Anacaona lived during the time of Christopher Columbus. She was a Taína, a native from Quisqueya, the island that today is comprised of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. She made a powerful stand against the Spanish invaders, for which she lost her life. The inspiring story of this courageous native woman is meant to inspire children to be brave too.
