We were given a limited amount of time to try and tell our story on the 'New Life In The Sun' television series and without this wonderful opportunity, I am not sure I would have had the confidence to write this book.
So, what does this book have in store for you, the reader? The birth of our new business and potential renovation were captured in this unique filming opportunity during last summer, when I signed up the whole family to take part in filming our Italian adventure. The highs and lows captured on camera for the world to see, this book shares what went on behind the camera, the struggles we faced and the fine balancing act of raising a family and growing our business.
Before this happened, there was my first move abroad to Canada which I thought was going to be my forever home, particularly as I had struggled for years to move there. Then back to the U.K. on my own with my nine-month-old baby son, closing the Canadian chapter of my life. Next onwards to Ireland, where I had another son and gained a multitude of animals including three rescue horses. Another big move to Italy, seven months pregnant with a punctured tyre on the road whilst trying to catch a ferry. Driving across France to get to Italy, with my husband, children, three cats, two dogs, fish, gerbils and turtles. No easy task when there was also car trouble and a deadline to complete the deal on our dream Italian house. Our IVF journeys, culminating in having a baby on my own with no medical help, the first birth in the village since 1971. Plans for a new business of which we had no previous experience, just a lot of passion to make it work. How we planned to renovate our cantina (if we were granted permission) and how I came up with a unique theme.
So, how do you fancy coming along for the ride and finding out more? I must warn you it's going to get a bit bumpy and at times there was a lot of stressful situations. Okay, I am not a famous person but you know what, I have a feeling my life so far has been just as colourful. Settle down with this book, pour yourself a glass of wine, get comfy and I shall begin......
